Tert-butyl hex-5-ynoate is a fungicide with a molecular weight of 148. It is used in agriculture and forestry to control growth of fungi. Tert-butyl hex-5-ynoate binds to the cell membrane of fungi and disrupts their membrane integrity, inhibiting the growth and development of the fungi. Tert-butyl hex-5-ynoate is also an immunosorbent for detecting antibodies against proteins in biological samples, such as serum or urine. The conjugates are formed by covalently binding an antibody with a reactive group on tert-butyl hexanoate that reacts with the protein antigen. Immunosorbent assays (ISA) are used to detect antigens in biological samples, such as serum or urine, by using an antigen specific monoclonal antibody linked to a solid matrix such as agarose gel or polystyrene beads.
