Naringenin chalcone is an isoflavonoid that is found in plants. It is the primary component of naringenin, which can be found in the peel of grapefruit and other citrus fruits. Naringenin chalcone has shown to have some antioxidant properties and may have a role in energy metabolism. It has also been found to inhibit oxidative injury in rat liver microsomes. Naringenin chalcone has been shown to be a chemoattractant protein for neutrophils and eosinophils, which are types of white blood cells that are involved in inflammation and immune responses. Pharmacokinetic studies show that after oral ingestion, naringenin chalcone is rapidly absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract and eliminated through the urine or bile within 24 hours.
