4-(Pyridin-3-yl)pyrimidine is a pyrimidine derivative that has shown anticancer activity in vitro. The anticancer activity of 4-(pyridin-3-yl)pyrimidine is due to the ability to inhibit DNA synthesis and induce apoptosis by interacting with the nuclear membrane proteins, such as nucleolin. This compound is also able to inhibit the growth of tumor cells in mice and may be a useful drug for treating cancer. 4-(Pyridin-3-yl)pyrimidine also inhibits the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which may have an important role in carcinogenesis.
