Product Information
Koenigicine is a secondary metabolite that was isolated from the deep red marine sponge, Koenigiopsis. It has been shown to have cytotoxic and anti-inflammatory properties in vitro. Koenigicine inhibits protein synthesis by binding to the ribosome, preventing peptide bond formation. The compound exhibits an IC50 of 0.1 μM for mammalian cells and therefore may be useful as a research or development tool for identifying other potential drug targets. Koenigicine is also used as a reference material for HPLC standards and quality control materials in analytical laboratories.
