Product Information
- (E)-2-Pentenoic acid ethyl ester
- Ethyl 2-pentenoate
- Ethyl Pent-2-En-1-Oate
- Ethyl trans-2-pentenoate
Ethyl (2E)-pent-2-enoate is a stereoselective, high-value chemical intermediate. It can be synthesized by the enzymatic removal of two carbons from the carboxylic acid moiety of ethyl 2-oxopentanoate. This process is known as deconjugation and is catalyzed by acetyltransferase enzymes. The sequence in which these enzymes act on the substrate is not important, but they are dependent on each other to produce this product.
