Product Information
Dibenzylideneacetone (dba) is a useful reagent for the alkylation and monoalkylation of carbohydrates. Dibenzylideneacetone reacts with iron to form Fe(dba), which can be used as a catalyst for the conversion of carbohydrates to alcohols, ethers, esters, and amines. The catalytic reaction mechanism has been elucidated by detailed studies. The reactions are regioselective, yielding only one product from each reactant.
