Description:
N-[(1R,2S)-2-Hydroxy-1-hydroxymethyl-2-(2-tridecyl-1-cyclopropenyl)ethyl]octanamide (NHTO) is a fluoroquinolone derivative that has been modified with an aldehyde and a hydroxyl group. The modification of the fluoroquinolone was done to increase its potency. NHTO binds to DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV enzymes, preventing their activity. It has also been shown to have desaturase activity, which may be useful in the treatment of conditions such as diabetes and obesity.
