Product Information
- 1H-benzimidazole-2-acetic acid, methyl ester
Methyl 2-(1H-1,3-benzodiazol-2-yl)acetate hydrochloride (MBDA) is an aromatic heterocycle with a nitrogen atom that is used as a fungicide. It belongs to the class of imidazoles and can be converted into other compounds with nucleophilic properties. MBDA is activated by chlorotrimethylsilane and polyfluoroalkyl substituents, which are electron withdrawing groups. The methylene group in this molecule enables it to act as a good nucleophile by attacking the carbon atom at the 1 position on an adjacent aromatic ring. This substitution leads to the formation of pyridones or pyridines, which have substituents in their heterocyclic rings, such as methyl and hydroxyl groups. These substituents provide stability to these compounds by reducing their reactivity.
