Product Information
- L-(1-13C)Leucine
- L-(1-~13~C)leucine
L-Leucine-1-13C is a stable isotope of leucine that can be used to study protein synthesis. It is injected as an intravenous infusion and then the body's natural metabolic processes are used to produce 13CO2, which is then collected in the breath, plasma or urine. The 13CO2 can be used to measure the rate of protein synthesis by measuring the amount of CO2 that is exhaled or found in the blood or urine. L-Leucine-1-13C has been shown to be useful for studying muscle tissue and also protein synthesis in plasma samples from infants.
