Ethyl 2-amino-4-(2-fluorophenyl)thiophene-3-carboxylate is a potent antitumor agent that binds to proteins, including cell surface receptors. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of Candida glabrata in vitro. The optimum concentration of this drug for inhibiting the growth of Candida glabrata is 2.5 micrograms/ml. Ethyl 2-amino-4-(2-fluorophenyl)thiophene-3-carboxylate also inhibits the production of IL-10, an antiinflammatory cytokine, from stimulated maternal blood cells and has antioxidant properties. This drug has been shown to be effective against chemical pesticides such as pentachloronitrobenzene and carbaryl in a model system.
