Applications α-Methyl-L-phenylalanine is used to prepare hippuryl-α-methylphenylalanine and hippuryl-α-methylphenyllactic acid as substrates for carboxypeptidase A. It is also used in the synthesis of high affinity tachykinin NK2 receptor antagonists.
