Description

Applications Tetrahydropyran is a useful synthetic intermediate. Tetrahydropyranyl (THP-) ethers derived from the reaction of alcohols and dihydropyran are common intermediates in organic synthesis. In organic synthesis, the 2-tetrahydropyranyl group is used as a protecting group for alcohols.
