    NTP42 is a nucleophilic compound that belongs to the class of prostanoids. It is a non-selective inhibitor of cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, which leads to the production of prostanoids. NTP42 has been shown to have cardiac hypertrophy inhibitory effects in animal models and to reduce systolic pressure. The mechanism of action for these effects is not fully understood, but may be due to its ability to inhibit the formation of reactive oxygen species and metal ion-dependent activation of COX enzymes. The tert-butyl group on this molecule likely increases its potency as an inhibitor by making it more lipophilic and therefore able to penetrate cell membranes more readily.
