Perillic Acid

Perillic Acid is a cytotoxic compound that has been shown to have minimal toxicity. It is a natural product found in the perilla plant and has been shown to be effective at inhibiting the growth of skin cancer cells. Perillic acid blocks the activity of the α1 subunit, which inhibits the production of growth factor-β1 and c-jun phosphorylation. The compound also induces apoptosis in cancer cells by binding to the wild-type strain and inhibiting DNA synthesis. The anticancer effects of perillic acid have been demonstrated in cell cultures from carcinoma cell lines.
