Methazolamide is used to treat glaucoma, allergic reactions, and other eye disorders. Methazolamide has been shown to have antiinflammatory properties in some cases. In other cases, it may cause hypersensitivity syndrome and pyrazole ring formation. The drug has been shown to be chemically stable at room temperature and in the presence of light.
