Descrição:

Epinastine is a diphenyl ether that is used as an anti-allergic drug. Epinastine inhibits the activity of detoxification enzymes in the liver, which are responsible for metabolizing xenobiotics. It also inhibits the enzyme activity of creatine kinase and causes a decrease in systolic blood pressure. Epinastine has been shown to be more potent than other drugs in its class for inhibiting rat liver microsomal monooxygenases. This inhibition may be due to irreversible binding to lysine residues on the enzyme surface. Epinastine also binds to the erythrocyte membrane, causing a decrease in adenosine triphosphate (ATP) synthesis and leading to cell death by ATP depletion. Epinastine has been shown to bind with high affinity to human blood group A and B antigens, which may lead to adverse effects such as anaphylactic shock or hemolytic anemia when administered intraven
