:CEFTAZIDIME IMPURITY A
Description:
Ceftazidime Impurity A, with the CAS number 1000980-60-8, is a chemical compound associated with the antibiotic ceftazidime, which belongs to the class of cephalosporins. This impurity typically arises during the synthesis or degradation of ceftazidime and may exhibit distinct physical and chemical properties compared to the parent compound. While specific characteristics such as melting point, solubility, and spectral data may vary, impurities like this often have lower biological activity than the main drug. Ceftazidime itself is known for its broad-spectrum antibacterial activity, particularly against Gram-negative bacteria. Impurities can affect the efficacy and safety profile of pharmaceutical formulations, making their identification and quantification important in quality control processes. Analytical techniques such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and mass spectrometry are commonly employed to detect and characterize such impurities in pharmaceutical products. Understanding the properties and behavior of ceftazidime impurities is crucial for ensuring the integrity and safety of antibiotic therapies.

CAS:
∆2-Ceftazidime is a semisynthetic broad-spectrum antibiotic. It is active against most Gram-negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, and Klebsiella pneumoniae. ∆2-Ceftazidime exerts its bactericidal effect by binding to penicillin-binding proteins in the bacterial cell wall and inhibiting cell wall synthesis. This drug also has been shown to inhibit ion channels in mammalian cells that are activated by peptides, such as glutamate receptors and ligand-gated ion channels. ∆2-Ceftazidime has also been used as a research tool for studying protein interactions with antibodies or other ligands.
Formula:C22H22N6O7S2Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:546.6 g/mol
