CAS 10035-10-6
:Hydrogen bromide
Description:
Hydrogen bromide (HBr) is a colorless gas at room temperature, characterized by its pungent odor and corrosive nature. It is a diatomic molecule consisting of hydrogen and bromine, and it readily dissolves in water to form hydrobromic acid, a strong acid that dissociates completely in aqueous solution. HBr is highly soluble in polar solvents and can react vigorously with bases and oxidizing agents. Its physical properties include a boiling point that allows it to exist as a gas under standard conditions, while its molecular weight contributes to its density being greater than that of air. In terms of safety, hydrogen bromide is classified as a hazardous substance; it can cause severe respiratory irritation and damage to mucous membranes upon exposure. Additionally, it is used in various industrial applications, including the synthesis of bromine compounds, pharmaceuticals, and as a catalyst in organic reactions. Proper handling and storage are essential due to its corrosive and toxic nature.

CAS:
Hydrobromic acid is a highly corrosive, toxic and irritating liquid. It reacts with water (H2O) to form hydrobromic acid and hydrogen fluoride gas. Hydrobromic acid is a weak acid that can be used as an oxidizing agent in organic syntheses. The reaction solution formed when hydrobromic acid is added to water has been shown to have cell factor activity in vitro. In vivo human studies have determined that this reaction solution has a phase transition temperature of about -6°C. The anhydrous sodium salt of hydrobromic acid can also be prepared by reacting hydrogen bromide with anhydrous sodium hydroxide at 100°C in the presence of sulfur dioxide gas.
Formula:HBrPurity:(Titration) Min. 48%Color and Shape:Clear LiquidMolecular weight:80.91 g/molHydrobromic acid, 33% in Acetic Acid
