CAS 10043-01-3
:Aluminum sulfate
Description:
Aluminum sulfate, with the CAS number 10043-01-3, is an inorganic compound commonly encountered as a white crystalline solid. It is highly soluble in water, forming a solution that is acidic in nature. This compound is primarily used in water purification processes, paper manufacturing, and as a mordant in dyeing and printing textiles. Aluminum sulfate acts as a coagulant, facilitating the aggregation of suspended particles in water, which aids in their removal during treatment. It has a relatively low toxicity, making it suitable for various applications, including food processing and pharmaceuticals. The compound typically exists as a dodecahydrate, meaning it contains twelve water molecules per formula unit, although it can also be found in an anhydrous form. In terms of chemical reactivity, aluminum sulfate can react with strong bases to produce aluminum hydroxide and can release sulfuric acid upon hydrolysis. Its stability under normal conditions makes it a widely used chemical in industrial and municipal applications.

CAS:
Aluminium sulfate is a water-soluble, inorganic compound that belongs to the class of sulfates. It can be produced by reacting aluminium with sulfuric acid. Aluminium sulfate is used for wastewater treatment and as an additive in paper production. Aluminium sulfate has inhibitory properties against sodium carbonate, which helps to remove the whiteness of paper and improve its quality. The synergistic effect of aluminium sulfate and sodium citrate is also beneficial for the removal of calcium and magnesium ions from water, which are responsible for the formation of scale on pipes. Aluminium sulfate has been shown to have physiological effects on plants, such as inhibition of photosynthesis and cellular respiration due to reduced uptake of oxygen by leaves. This results in a reduction in plant growth and may lead to death if not corrected. Aluminium sulfate also has surfactant properties that make it useful in surface methodology experiments.
Formula:Al2•(H2SO4)3Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:348.2 g/molRef: 3D-FA161969
