2-Bromo-4-iodopyridine is a coordination compound that inhibits bacterial enzyme catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT). It is also an inhibitor of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and other bacteria. 2-Bromo-4-iodopyridine binds to the active site of COMT, which is located in the bacterial cell wall, and prevents methylamine from binding to the enzyme.
