Methyl 2,4-dichloro-5-nitrobenzoate
CAS:
Methyl 2,4-dichloro-5-nitrobenzoate is a nitration product that has been used as an experimental insecticide. It is the methyl ester of the nitro compound 2,4-dichloro-5-nitrobenzoate. Methyl 2,4-dichloro-5-nitrobenzoate fuses with proteins in the insect’s gut and prevents them from digesting food. This causes a rapid death by starvation of insects that have ingested this compound. The infrared spectrum of methyl 2,4-dichloro-5-nitrobenzoate has been shown to be similar to that of propoxur and methamidophos. Spectroscopy has also demonstrated that methyl 2,4-dichloro-5-nitrobenzoate is an ester with diacylhydrazine activity.
Formula:C8H5Cl2NO4Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:250.04 g/mol
