:N-(3-MALEIMIDOPROPIONYL)BIOCYTIN
Description:
N-(3-Maleimidopropionyl)biocytin is a chemical compound that serves as a bioconjugation reagent, particularly useful in the fields of biochemistry and molecular biology. It features a maleimide functional group, which is known for its ability to selectively react with thiol groups in proteins and peptides, facilitating the formation of stable thioether bonds. This property makes it valuable for labeling and modifying biomolecules. The biocytin moiety provides a strong affinity for avidin or streptavidin, allowing for easy purification and detection of the conjugated molecules. The compound is typically utilized in applications such as protein labeling, drug delivery systems, and the development of biosensors. Its structure includes a propionyl linker that enhances solubility and reactivity. As with many chemical substances, handling should be conducted with care, following appropriate safety protocols to mitigate any potential hazards associated with its use.

3-(N-Maleimidylpropionyl)biocytin
CAS:
3-(N-Maleimidylpropionyl)biocytin is a cell-permeable, irreversible inhibitor of protein synthesis that binds to the epsilon amino group of aminoacyl adenosine. It has been found to inhibit the growth of fibrosarcoma cells in vitro. 3-(N-Maleimidylpropionyl)biocytin inhibits trypsin treatment, which is an enzyme that breaks down proteins. This property may be due to its ability to bind with the active site of trypsin and prevent it from working. 3-(N-Maleimidylpropionyl)biocytin also inhibits the expression of monoclonal antibodies in human serum and neutralizes proton transport in mammalian cells. The inhibition of proton transport is thought to be due to binding with integrin receptors on the membrane surface.
Formula:C23H33N5O7SPurity:(%) Min. 60%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:523.6 g/mol3-(N-Maleimidylpropionyl)biocytin
