[3-(2-Phenylethoxy)phenyl]boronic acid
CAS:
3-(2-Phenylethoxy)phenylboronic acid is an inhibitor of beta-lactamase. It inhibits the activity of class A beta-lactamases and is clinically used to treat infections caused by bacteria that are resistant to other antibiotics, such as penicillin. 3-(2-Phenylethoxy)phenylboronic acid binds to the active site of beta-lactamase, blocking access to the cleavage of the drug molecule. This prevents the formation of a covalent bond between the drug molecule and the enzyme, which is required for antibiotic resistance. The inhibition of beta-lactamase also prevents bacterial growth by inhibiting protein synthesis, which leads to cell death.
Formula:C14H15BO3Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:242.08 g/mol
