The wittig reaction first produces the allylic acetal, which then reacts with dimethyl acetal to produce ethyl 3-propylhex-2-enoate. Ethyl 3-propylhex-2-enoate may be used in the production of carbonyl compounds, carbonyl, and acetals.</p>
