It is a phosphoramidate nucleoside analog and a novel compound that has been modified to improve its stability. Tert-butyl 2-phenyl-4-(P-tolylsulfonyloxy)-7,8-dihydropyrido[4,3-D]pyrimidine-6(5H)-carboxylate is currently being investigated for use as a drug to treat HIV/AIDS.
