4-(3-Ethyl-1,2,4-oxadiazol-5-yl)butanoic acid (ETOA) is a potent and selective activator of TRPA1 receptors. It has been shown to activate the TRPA1 receptor in cells from different species, including human, rat, and mouse. In addition to activating the TRPA1 receptor, ETOA also inhibits the activity of certain ion channels such as calcium channels. ETOA is a new chemical tool for studying protein interactions and is useful for probing the function and mechanism of ion channels.
