CAS:<p>Gamma-Undecalactone is a diphenyl ether that is used as a flavoring agent in pharmaceutical preparations. It has been shown to induce proliferation in lung fibroblasts, V79 cells, and kidney bean cells. Gamma-undecalactone also has the ability to inhibit the production of reactive oxygen species, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the activity of fatty acid synthase. The mechanism of gamma-undecalactone's anti-inflammatory properties is not well understood, but it is thought that they are due to inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
