CAS 104-88-1
:4-Chlorobenzaldehyde
Description:
4-Chlorobenzaldehyde, also known as p-chlorobenzaldehyde, is an aromatic aldehyde characterized by the presence of a chlorine atom at the para position relative to the aldehyde functional group on a benzene ring. Its molecular formula is C7H5ClO, and it features a distinct aromatic structure that contributes to its chemical reactivity and properties. This compound is typically a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a characteristic odor, and it is soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and ether, but only slightly soluble in water. 4-Chlorobenzaldehyde is used in organic synthesis, particularly in the preparation of various pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and dyes. It can undergo typical reactions of aldehydes, such as oxidation to form carboxylic acids or condensation reactions with amines and other nucleophiles. Additionally, the presence of the chlorine substituent can influence the reactivity and selectivity of reactions, making it a valuable intermediate in synthetic chemistry. Safety precautions should be taken when handling this compound, as it can be irritating to the skin and respiratory system.

CAS:
4-Chlorobenzaldehyde is a chemical compound with the molecular formula C6H5ClO. It can be synthesized by reacting malonic acid with sephadex g-100, copper chloride, and diphenolase. This reaction mechanism is shown in Figure 1. The product then reacts with copper to form a copper complex. 4-Chlorobenzaldehyde has been shown to have anticancer activity against carcinoma cell lines and squamous carcinoma cells. The mechanism of action for this compound may be due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of picolinic acid, which is an important precursor for the synthesis of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD).
Formula:C7H5ClOPurity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:White Clear LiquidMolecular weight:140.57 g/molp-Chlorobenzaldehyde pure, 97%
