CAS:
Methyl-2-oxycyclopentanecarboxylate is an enolate that is used as a sealant. It reacts with the hydroxy group of polymers such as polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl acetate, polyvinyl chloride, and polyurethane to form crosslinked structures. Methyl-2-oxycyclopentanecarboxylate is also used in asymmetric syntheses to form chiral products. The monomers are methylated by the addition of methanol or dimethyl hexanedioate, and then reacted with squaramide (1,4-dioxaspiro[4.5]decane) to form a symmetrical dimer of chiral cyclopentanone. This reaction can be catalyzed by hydrogen bonding between the methyl group and the carbonyl group in squaramide.
Formula:C7H10O3Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:Clear LiquidMolecular weight:142.15 g/molMethyl 2-Cyclopentanonecarboxylate
