moperone

Description:
Moperone is an antipsychotic medication primarily used in the treatment of schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. It belongs to the butyrophenone class of compounds, which are known for their dopamine receptor antagonism. Moperone exhibits a high affinity for dopamine D2 receptors, which is believed to contribute to its therapeutic effects in managing psychotic symptoms. The substance is typically administered in oral form and is characterized by its moderate sedative properties. In addition to its antipsychotic effects, moperone may also possess some anxiolytic and antiemetic properties. Its pharmacokinetics involve hepatic metabolism, and it is excreted primarily through urine. As with many antipsychotic medications, moperone may have side effects, including extrapyramidal symptoms, sedation, and potential metabolic changes. Due to its specific receptor interactions and side effect profile, moperone is used under careful medical supervision, and its use is guided by a thorough assessment of the patient's condition and history.

    CAS:

Moperone is a synthetic opioid that binds to and activates the mu-opioid receptor. The activation of this receptor inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines, such as TNF-α and IL-1β, which are associated with inflammation. Moperone also has been shown to bind to dopamine receptors, blocking their ability to bind dopamine, which may be responsible for some of its side effects. Moperone was originally developed as an anti-inflammatory drug but was not found to be effective at treating inflammatory diseases. It is still used in some countries for the treatment of Parkinson's disease and other neurological disorders.
