:3,5-Difluorophenylacetic acid
Description:
3,5-Difluorophenylacetic acid is an organic compound characterized by the presence of a phenyl ring substituted with two fluorine atoms at the 3 and 5 positions, along with an acetic acid functional group. This compound typically appears as a white to off-white solid and is soluble in polar solvents due to the presence of the carboxylic acid group. The fluorine substituents can influence the compound's reactivity and biological activity, often enhancing lipophilicity and altering the electronic properties of the phenyl ring. 3,5-Difluorophenylacetic acid may be utilized in various chemical syntheses and pharmaceutical applications, particularly in the development of drugs where fluorinated compounds are known to improve metabolic stability and bioavailability. Its molecular structure allows for potential interactions in biological systems, making it of interest in medicinal chemistry. As with many organic acids, it may exhibit acidic properties, contributing to its reactivity in various chemical reactions. Safety data should be consulted for handling and storage, as with all chemical substances.

CAS:
3,5-Difluorophenylacetic acid is a compound that inhibits the activity of the enzyme α-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase (KGD) in vitro and in vivo. 3,5-Difluorophenylacetic acid has shown inhibitory properties against KGD in vitro assays with an IC 50 of 0.6 mM. In vivo tests have also been conducted showing that 3,5-difluorophenylacetic acid inhibited KGD activity in the brain with an IC 50 of 1.2 mM. The inhibition of KGD by 3,5-difluorophenylacetic acid may be due to its photochemical properties and the fact that it is an oxalyl chloride substrate.
3,5-Difluorophenylacetic acid has also been shown to be a γ-secretase inhibitor which means it could be effective for Alzheimer's disease treatment as well as other neurodeg
Formula:C8H6F2O2Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:172.13 g/mol
