This inhibition may be due to its ability to alkylate the enzyme's sulfhydryl group, leading to decreased activity. In addition, ethyl N-hydroxyacetimidate inhibits leishmania by interfering with disulfide bond formation and conjugate release in the parasite’s cell membrane.
