Efegatran

Description:
Efegatran, with the CAS number 105806-65-3, is an anticoagulant that belongs to the class of direct thrombin inhibitors. It is designed to inhibit thrombin, an enzyme crucial for blood clot formation, thereby preventing thrombus development. This compound is characterized by its ability to provide anticoagulation without the need for routine monitoring, which is a significant advantage over traditional anticoagulants like warfarin. Efegatran exhibits a relatively rapid onset of action and a predictable pharmacokinetic profile, making it suitable for various clinical applications in managing thromboembolic disorders. Its chemical structure includes specific functional groups that contribute to its activity and solubility. While it has shown promise in clinical settings, the development and approval status of Efegatran may vary, and ongoing research continues to evaluate its efficacy and safety compared to other anticoagulants. As with any medication, potential side effects and contraindications should be considered in clinical practice.

    CAS:

Efegatran is a chemical compound that has a number of clinical indications, including the treatment of congestive heart failure, hypertension, and thrombosis. It is an inhibitor of platelet aggregation and prevents the binding of heparin to platelets. Efegatran reduces blood pressure by inhibiting angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), which in turn blocks the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II. Efegatran also inhibits the production of erythrocytes, leading to intravascular hemolysis. The plasma concentration of efegatran can be monitored with a monoclonal antibody (Mab) that binds to activated efegatran. In these experiments, Mab binding was measured using radio-labelled 125I-labelled efegatran as a tracer.
