:Pancreastatin (1-49) (porcine)
Description:
Pancreastatin (1-49) (porcine) is a peptide derived from the proglucagon gene, primarily produced in the pancreas of pigs. It consists of 49 amino acids and is known for its role in regulating various physiological processes, particularly in glucose metabolism and insulin secretion. This peptide acts as an inhibitor of insulin release, thereby playing a crucial role in maintaining glucose homeostasis. Pancreastatin also influences gastrointestinal motility and has been implicated in the modulation of pancreatic exocrine secretion. Its structure includes a specific sequence of amino acids that contribute to its biological activity, and it is often studied for its potential therapeutic applications in diabetes and related metabolic disorders. The CAS number 106477-83-2 uniquely identifies this substance in chemical databases, facilitating research and regulatory processes. Overall, pancreastatin (1-49) is significant in both physiological research and potential clinical applications, particularly in understanding and managing metabolic diseases.

CAS:
Pancreatastatin is a peptide hormone that inhibits energy metabolism. Pancreatastatin is a biologically active peptide that has been isolated from the pancreas and shown to have effects on the endocrine system, including regulation of feeding behavior. Pancreatastatin is also known as somatostatin and is found in both animals and humans. Pancreatastatin has been shown to inhibit cellular proliferation and decrease tumor size in animal models of cancer, as well as to regulate blood sugar levels in diabetic patients. Pancreatastatin is also used for treating bowel diseases such as colitis.
Formula:C214H330N68O76SPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:5,103.49 g/molPancreastatin (dephosphorylated) (porcine) trifluoroacetate salt
CAS:
Pancreastatin is a cytosolic protein that inhibits the production of peptide hormones such as glucagon, insulin, and gastrin. It is used to treat bowel disease, including carcinoid syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease. Pancreastatin has been shown to inhibit the activity of cyclase enzymes that are responsible for the production of these hormones. Pancreatic beta-cells produce pancreatic polypeptide (PP), which is converted by pancreastatin into inactive PP2. Pancreatic alpha-cells produce somatostatin (SS), which is converted by pancreastatin into inactive SS2. Pancreatic delta cells produce pancreatic polypeptide (PP), which is not affected by pancreastatin. Pancreatic somatostatinomas secrete SS, which is not affected by pancreastatin.
Formula:C214H330N68O76SPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:5,103.39 g/mol
