CAS 109-11-5
:3-Morpholinone
Description:
3-Morpholinone, with the CAS number 109-11-5, is a cyclic amide derived from morpholine. It is characterized by a six-membered ring containing both oxygen and nitrogen atoms, which contributes to its unique chemical properties. This compound typically appears as a white to off-white crystalline solid and is soluble in water and various organic solvents, making it versatile for different applications. 3-Morpholinone is known for its role as an intermediate in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals, as well as in the production of polymers and surfactants. The presence of the morpholine ring imparts basicity to the molecule, allowing it to participate in various chemical reactions, including nucleophilic substitutions and cyclization processes. Additionally, it exhibits moderate stability under standard conditions but may undergo hydrolysis or other transformations when exposed to extreme pH or temperature. Safety precautions should be taken when handling this compound, as it may cause irritation to the skin and eyes.

CAS:
Morpholin-3-one is a potent inhibitor of protein synthesis. It binds to the active site of the ribosome and inhibits the binding of aminoacyl-tRNA to the ribosome. This action prevents protein synthesis and thus cell division. Morpholin-3-one has been shown to have strong inhibitory activity against human liver cancer cells in culture and has also been shown to have potent inhibitory activity against cholesterol synthesis in cultured human hepatocytes. Clinical studies have indicated that morpholin-3-one has a long half-life, with a terminal half-life of approximately 18 hours. This drug is metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes and excreted through the kidneys.
Formula:C4H7NO2Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:101.1 g/mol
