:Monazomycin A
Description:
Monazomycin A is a naturally occurring antibiotic compound that belongs to the class of macrolides. It is produced by certain strains of the actinobacteria, particularly those in the genus Streptomyces. This compound exhibits a complex molecular structure characterized by a large lactone ring, which is typical of macrolide antibiotics. Monazomycin A has demonstrated antibacterial activity, particularly against Gram-positive bacteria, making it of interest in the field of medicinal chemistry and antibiotic research. Its mechanism of action involves inhibition of protein synthesis, which is a common feature among macrolide antibiotics. Additionally, Monazomycin A has been studied for its potential applications in treating various infections, although its clinical use may be limited due to factors such as resistance development and toxicity. The compound's unique structural features and biological activity continue to be a subject of research, particularly in the search for new antimicrobial agents in the face of rising antibiotic resistance.

monazomycin
CAS:
Monazomycin is an antimicrobial agent that inhibits mitochondrial functions and cell division by binding to the mitochondria. It is found in galleria mellonella larvae, which are used as a model for studying the effects of antimicrobial agents on insects. Monazomycin is effective against Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain, but not S. cerevisiae cells with high levels of mitochondrial DNA mutations. Monazomycin binds to the mitochondria and inhibits electron transfer, thereby inhibiting oxidative phosphorylation and ATP production. This inhibition leads to cell death by apoptosis or necrosis, depending on the dose administered.
Purity:Min. 95%
