5-Carboxymethylaminomethyl- 2'-O-methyluridine (5CmAMU) is a modified nucleobase that is categorized as a modified base. It is an analog of uridine, which has been shown to be effective against tuberculosis in mice. 5CmAMU inhibits the methylation of rRNA and DNA by binding to the enzyme RNA methyltransferase, thereby inhibiting transcription and replication.
