Sephadex G-15
CAS:Sephadex G-15 is a type of ion-exchange resin that consists of a porous matrix with crosslinked polystyrene beads. It has been used in molecular biology and biochemistry for separation of biomolecules. Sephadex G-15 is capable of separating molecules based on hydrophobic interactions, size exclusion, or charge. The bead size can be varied to allow for separation of macromolecules such as proteins and nucleic acids. This medium has been used to purify erythrocyte enzyme systems and mitochondrial membranes. A 3-O-caffeoylquinic acid is found in the leaves of plants from the family Rubiaceae, as well as in the bark and root bark of some species from the genus Cinchona. These plants are known to have antihypertensive activity. Sephadex G-15 may also be used to separate antimicrobial peptides from spermatozoa and to isolate diabetics'
