CAS 112-66-3
:Dodecyl acetate
Description:
Dodecyl acetate, with the CAS number 112-66-3, is an organic compound classified as an ester. It is formed from the reaction of dodecanol, a long-chain fatty alcohol, and acetic acid. This compound typically appears as a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a characteristic fruity odor, making it useful in the fragrance and flavoring industries. Dodecyl acetate is relatively non-toxic and has low volatility, which contributes to its stability in various applications. It is soluble in organic solvents but has limited solubility in water due to its long hydrophobic carbon chain. The compound is often used as a solvent, plasticizer, and in the formulation of personal care products. Additionally, it exhibits good emulsifying properties, making it valuable in cosmetic formulations. Its physical and chemical properties, such as boiling point and density, are influenced by its molecular structure, which includes a long hydrophobic tail and a polar acetate group. Overall, dodecyl acetate is a versatile compound with applications across multiple industries.

CAS:
1-Dodecanol acetate (1DA) is a reactive functional group that has been used to prepare microcapsules. These capsules are able to bind to the surface of cryptococcus neoformans and cause them to break down. The binding constants for 1DA with cryptococcus neoformans have been determined by measuring the equilibrium concentrations of 1DA and its monomers, dodecanol and acetate, in the presence of different amounts of microcapsules. The reaction between 1DA and cryptococcus neoformans was found to be irreversible. This process can be used as a sample preparation technique for studying other organisms that react in a similar way.
Formula:C14H28O2Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:228.37 g/mol
