:Phosphoric acid, bis[4-(1,1-dimethylethyl)phenyl] phenyl ester
Description:
Phosphoric acid, bis[4-(1,1-dimethylethyl)phenyl] phenyl ester, commonly known as a type of organophosphate, is characterized by its structure, which includes a phosphoric acid moiety esterified with two bulky phenolic groups. This compound is typically a viscous liquid or solid at room temperature and is known for its role as a flame retardant and plasticizer in various applications. It exhibits low volatility and good thermal stability, making it suitable for use in high-temperature environments. The presence of the tert-butyl groups enhances its hydrophobicity and contributes to its effectiveness in reducing flammability. Additionally, it has moderate solubility in organic solvents, which allows for its incorporation into various polymer matrices. Safety considerations are important, as organophosphates can exhibit toxicity, and appropriate handling measures should be taken. Overall, this compound is significant in industrial applications, particularly in the production of plastics and coatings, due to its functional properties and effectiveness as an additive.

CAS:Phenyl di-p-tert-butylphenyl phosphate is a synthetic compound that is used in the optimization of analytical methods, such as sample preparation, and for the analysis of chlorine levels in water samples. Phenyl di-p-tert-butylphenyl phosphate was developed as an alternative to chloroform because it does not dissolve viscose or other cellulosic materials. The phenyl group in this compound reacts with alkali metals to form a disulphide. The carbon disulphide produced in this reaction can then be reduced by organic solvents such as benzene, ether, or carbon tetrachloride to produce a viscose (cellulose acetate) solution. This compound is also used for the determination of the viscosity of viscose solutions by means of chromatography. Sensitivity tests have been performed on phenyl di-p-tert-butylphenyl phosphate using gas chromatography and mass spectromFormula:C26H31O4PPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:438.5 g/mol
