Linalyl acetate is used in anti-infective agents, in particular for its significant cytotoxicity against skin cells and its ability to interfere with bacterial cell wall synthesis. Benzalkonium chloride has been shown to be able to combine with linalyl acetate to form complexes that are more stable at physiological pH than either benzalkonium chloride or linalyl acetate alone.
