    5-(N-Ethyl-N-isopropyl) amiloride is a cyclase inhibitor that has been shown to have anti-cancer effects in solid tumours. It blocks the production of cAMP and therefore inhibits the activation of protein kinase A, which leads to neuronal death. The drug also shows potent activity against tumours that express growth factor β1 (GFβ1). In addition, 5-(N-Ethyl-N-isopropyl) amiloride has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of HL60 cells by blocking both DNA synthesis and RNA synthesis. This inhibition is caused by an increase in proton release and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification of DNA.
