:Aflatoxin B1
Description:
Aflatoxin B1 is a potent mycotoxin produced by certain molds, particularly Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus. It is classified as a carcinogen and is known for its significant health risks to humans and animals. Aflatoxin B1 is a colorless to pale yellow crystalline compound that is soluble in organic solvents but poorly soluble in water. Its molecular formula is C17H12O6, and it has a molecular weight of approximately 312.31 g/mol. This compound primarily contaminates agricultural products, such as grains, nuts, and seeds, especially under conditions of high humidity and temperature. Aflatoxin B1 is notorious for its ability to induce liver damage and is associated with hepatocellular carcinoma, particularly in regions where dietary exposure is prevalent. Regulatory agencies monitor aflatoxin levels in food products to mitigate health risks, and various methods, including chromatography, are employed for its detection and quantification. Due to its toxic nature, strict guidelines are in place to limit aflatoxin B1 exposure in food and feed.

CAS:Controlled Product
Aflatoxin B1 is a toxin that inhibits the polymerase chain reaction and has been shown to inhibit nuclear DNA synthesis in vitro. Aflatoxin B1 also inhibits the activity of several enzymes, such as acetylcholinesterase, which is involved in the regulation of neurotransmission. It has been shown to cause cancer in animals by binding to DNA and inhibiting replication. Aflatoxin B1 binds to proteins in the cell membrane, which may be responsible for its toxicity. The binding of aflatoxins to proteins induces an increase in permeability and leakage of cell contents, leading to cell death. Aflatoxin B1 can be detected using fluorescence probe-based methods or electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).
Formula:C17H12O6Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:White PowderMolecular weight:312.27 g/molAflatoxin B1-13C,d3
