:Benzyl benzoate
Description:
Benzyl benzoate is an organic compound with the chemical formula C14H12O2, characterized by its ester functional group formed from benzyl alcohol and benzoic acid. It appears as a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a sweet, floral aroma, making it useful in the fragrance industry. Benzyl benzoate has a relatively low solubility in water but is soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and ether. It has a moderate boiling point and a density greater than that of water. This compound is known for its applications as a solvent, plasticizer, and fixative in perfumes. Additionally, it has been utilized in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly as a topical treatment for scabies and as a potential insect repellent. While generally considered safe for use in cosmetics and food products, it can cause allergic reactions in some individuals. As with many chemicals, proper handling and safety precautions are essential to mitigate any potential risks associated with exposure.

CAS:Benzyl benzoate is a glycol ether that is used in the pharmaceutical industry as a solvent and as an excipient. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of eosinophil cationic protein (ECP) and benzyl benzoate in plants. This compound also has biocompatible properties, which allows it to be used in polymer compositions for control analysis. Benzyl benzoate is metabolized by esterases and glucuronidases, or conjugated with glucuronic acid. A control method for detecting the presence of benzyl benzoate in water was developed by using a fluorescent dye. The fluorescence intensity decreases when benzyl benzoate binds to the dye due to quenching of energy transfer from the excited state of the dye molecule.Formula:C14H12O2Purity:Min. 98 Area-%Color and Shape:Clear LiquidMolecular weight:212.24 g/molBenzyl Benzoate pure, 99%
