    <p>Indole-2-carboxylic acid methyl ester is a carbazole that can be synthesized from indole and hydrogen chloride. It has been shown to inhibit the production of β-amyloid, an important factor in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease. Indole-2-carboxylic acid methyl ester has also been shown to have inhibitory effects on ion-exchange, melatonin synthesis, and yields of aziridines. The affinity of indole-2-carboxylic acid methyl ester for aldehydes was found to be very high.
