:(E)-3-[2-(7-Chloro-2-quinolinyl)ethenyl]benzaldehyde
Description:
(E)-3-[2-(7-Chloro-2-quinolinyl)ethenyl]benzaldehyde, with the CAS number 120578-03-2, is a synthetic organic compound characterized by its unique structural features, which include a benzaldehyde moiety and a quinoline derivative. This compound exhibits a conjugated double bond system, contributing to its potential as a chromophore, which may influence its optical properties. The presence of the chloro substituent on the quinoline ring can enhance its biological activity and lipophilicity, making it of interest in medicinal chemistry. The compound's configuration as an (E)-isomer indicates that the substituents around the double bond are on opposite sides, which can affect its reactivity and interaction with biological targets. Additionally, the compound may exhibit fluorescence due to its aromatic structure, making it useful in various applications, including as a fluorescent probe or in organic synthesis. Its specific reactivity and interactions would depend on the functional groups present and the overall molecular geometry.

CAS:
(E)-3-[2-(7-Chloro-2-quinolinyl)ethenyl]benzaldehyde (1) is an ionic liquid that is synthesized from the reaction of chloride, isophthalaldehyde and trifluoroacetic acid in an ionic liquid. The dehydration reactions in the industrial production of 1 are carried out using a catalytic process. The reaction yield can be increased by optimizing the reaction conditions. This synthesis was used for the first time to produce 1 in 2016. It has been shown that 1 can be used as a precursor for ionic liquids, which are widely used in industry. The byproduct of this process is chloride, which can be recycled.
Formula:C18H12ClNOPurity:Min. 98 Area-%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:293.75 g/mol
