    <p>(E)-3-[2-(7-Chloro-2-quinolinyl)ethenyl]benzaldehyde (1) is an ionic liquid that is synthesized from the reaction of chloride, isophthalaldehyde and trifluoroacetic acid in an ionic liquid. The dehydration reactions in the industrial production of 1 are carried out using a catalytic process. The reaction yield can be increased by optimizing the reaction conditions. This synthesis was used for the first time to produce 1 in 2016. It has been shown that 1 can be used as a precursor for ionic liquids, which are widely used in industry. The byproduct of this process is chloride, which can be recycled.</p>
