Hydrin 1 has been shown to have biological properties such as being taken up by water, interacting with other molecules, and forming reaction products. The ventral part of the cell membrane is where Hydrin 1 is mostly expressed, but it can also be found in other parts of the organism. Hydrin 1 binds to messenger RNA and has been used as a model system for studying protein-lipid interactions. The effective dose for Hydrin 1 is not known. This drug can be conjugated with bile salts to form an active metabolite called hydroxylinoleic acid (HOLA).
