p-Methoxybenzaldehyde has a characteristic hawthorne odor and
a pungent, anise-like flavor. It has a bitter flavor above 30 - 40 ppm. 
May be prepared by methylation and oxidation of p-cresol and 
also by oxidation of anethole.
