CAS 12304-65-3
:Hydrotalcite (Mg6(CO3)[Al(OH)6]2(OH)4.4H2O)
Description:
Hydrotalcite, with the chemical formula Mg6(CO3)[Al(OH)6]2(OH)4·4H2O and CAS number 12304-65-3, is a layered double hydroxide (LDH) characterized by its unique structure that consists of positively charged brucite-like layers and interlayer carbonate anions. This compound typically exhibits a hydrotalcite-like structure, where magnesium and aluminum ions are coordinated with hydroxide ions, forming a stable lattice. Hydrotalcite is known for its anion-exchange properties, allowing it to incorporate various anions into its interlayer space, which makes it useful in environmental applications, such as the removal of pollutants. It is also recognized for its thermal stability and ability to release water upon heating, which can lead to structural transformations. Hydrotalcite is often utilized in catalysis, as a filler in polymers, and in pharmaceuticals due to its biocompatibility. Its layered structure contributes to its high surface area, making it effective for various chemical reactions and applications in materials science.

Hydrotalcite
CAS:
Hydrotalcite is a layered, hydrated magnesium aluminum hydroxycarbonate. It is used as a solid catalyst for the removal of water vapor from wastewater treatment and for the conversion of metal hydroxides to metal oxides in electrochemical reactions. The reaction mechanism for this process is believed to be due to the formation of a metal carbonate complex at the surface of the hydrotalcite particle. This process can also be used in other applications, such as the removal of chloride ions from water vapor or the synthesis of sodium carbonate from sodium chloride and carbon dioxide.
Formula:CH24AI2Mg6O23Purity:Min. 95%
