:Imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine, 6,8-dichloro-2-(chloromethyl)-, hydrochloride (1:1)
Description:
Imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine, 6,8-dichloro-2-(chloromethyl)-, hydrochloride (1:1) is a chemical compound characterized by its imidazo-pyridine structure, which incorporates both imidazole and pyridine rings. This compound features dichloro substitutions at the 6 and 8 positions of the imidazo ring, along with a chloromethyl group at the 2 position, contributing to its reactivity and potential biological activity. The hydrochloride form indicates that the compound is a salt, which enhances its solubility in water and may influence its pharmacokinetic properties. Typically, compounds of this nature are studied for their potential applications in medicinal chemistry, particularly in the development of pharmaceuticals due to their ability to interact with biological targets. The presence of chlorine atoms can also affect the compound's lipophilicity and overall stability. As with many heterocyclic compounds, the specific arrangement of atoms and functional groups plays a crucial role in determining its chemical behavior and potential uses in various fields, including drug development and agrochemicals.
